ABOUT ME

Daniel Sueiro jazz piano, portrait photo

Multifaceted Spanish jazz pianist, arranger and composer, Daniel Sueiro is a passionate and reflective artist committed to learning and honoring the jazz language and history through critical thinking and introspection.

Voorschotense Krant has called his renditions of jazz standards as “worthy homages to jazz masters such as Count Basie and Cedar Walton”. Sueiro communicates with other musicians and audiences what he terms as "the universal beauty hidden behind logic and structure”. Leader of Daniel Sueiro Trio and Daniel Sueiro Quintet, Sueiro encourages other performers to embark, like himself, in a never-ending search to become as clear, pristine and expressive as possible. He believes that for every idea one has, there is some kind of refined version out there in the abstract world of platonic ideas, and that his task as an artist is to get closer and closer to it.

He has appeared at the Lucena Jazz Festival (Spain), among others, and at many notable music venues, including Jazz Café Dizzy and Third Place Utrecht in The Netherlands and Club Matador and Club Meidinerz in Spain. He is artist in residence at Café Bleu (The Hague) where he plays every Tuesday together with his trio.

A self-taught piano student at age 7, Sueiro holds jazz piano bachelor degrees from the Universidad Alfonso X EL Sabio (Spain), and Koninklijk Conservatorium Den Haag (NL). He has studied with some of the most prominent jazz musicians from the Dutch scene, such as Rob van Bavel, Eric Ineke, Juraj Stanik, John Ruocco and Claudio Jr. De Rosa. He has attended masterclasses and taken lessons from internationally acclaimed jazz figures such as Emmet Cohen, Larry Goldings, Barry Harris, Ted Rosenthal, Kevin Hays, Gregory Hutchinson and Willie Jones III. Sueiro has performed or collaborated with Toon Roos, Vincent Koning, Pietro Mirabassi and Paolo Petrecca, among others.
